Remember

When saying "not" in Spanish, you will place "no" before the verb, NOT before the Subject Pronoun.

Ex: I am not lazy--> Yo NO soy perezoso.

Ex: We are not neat. --> Nosotros NO somos ordenados.

15

Tener = to have (e-ie)

Tener is a stem-change verb or "boot" verb.

The "Yo" form of "tengo" is also irregular as it follows no pattern.

Saying age: Tener + # + años

It's like saying how many years you have

I am 16--> I have 16 years--> Yo tengo dieciseis años

16

Tener Conjugations

Yo tengo

Tú tienes

Él/Ella/Ud tiene

Nosotros tenemos

Vosotros tenís

Ellos/Ustedes tienen

REMEMBER: We do not stem chage in the Nosotros or Vosotros forms

Ir = to go

"Ir" is another irregular verb

There is no pattern to the conjugations for this verb so you must simply memorize them.

21

Ir Conjugations

Yo voy

Tú vas

Él/Ella/Ud va

Nosotros vamos

Vosotros vais

Ellos/Uds van

22

Important reminders:

"Ir" is always followed by "a" to indicate "to" where you are going or what you are going to do.

Ex: I go to the park = Yo voy al parque

Ex: We go to the pool = Nosotros vamos a la piscina.

A + el = al

23

Ex: I'm going to dance = Yo voy a bailar.

Ex: You and Luis are going to run = Tú y Luis van a correr.

28
