​Degree of Comparison

Positive Degree

​Positive degree merupakan bentuk sederhana dari degree of comparison karena tidak terdapat perbandingan di dalamnya.

Positive degree ini hanya menyatakan suatu hal dengan perbandingan yang sama, sehingga kita dapat menggunakan frasa “as (adjective) as” untuk melengkapi kalimat tersebut.

Contoh:

• You should practice karate as often as you can.

• Ben looks as handsome as Arya.

Comparative Degree

Comparative degree digunakan untuk membandingkan dua hal dalam satu kalimat. Umumnya, saat menggunakan comparative degree perlu menambahkan akhiran -er atau -ier. Misalnya pada kata angry, maka dapat kamu ubah menjadi angrier.

Comparative degree sebagai adverb juga bisa ditambahkan kata more sebelum adjective seperti more angrily, more happily, dan seterusnya.
