Cellular Respiration
2
Simple details of Cellular Respiration
This happens on all organisms, its main sources of energy being oxygen and glucose, makes Water, Carbon Dioxide, and ATP energy.
3
Where does it happen?
Cellular Respiration happens in the cytoplasm & mitochondria of eukaryotes, but it happens in the cytoplasm of prokaryotes.
4
Why does it happen?
Cellular respiration is mostly used to create ATP energy to support all other reactions of the body. This also relates to humans because we use it for Growth and repair of cells, and working our muscles.
5
Cellular Respiration formula
Glucose + Oxygen = Carbon Dioxide + Water + ATP energy.
6
2 types of respiration (Aerobic)
Aerobic Respiration is where for the process of Cellular Respiration there's a need for oxygen to make ATP, this happening in the Cytoplasm and Mitochondria, usually making 36-38 ATP molecules.
7
2 types of Respiration ( Anaerobic )
Anaerobic Respiration mostly happens in Prokaryotes it has no need for oxygen, usually making 2 ATP molecules.
8
Autotrophs are organisms that can make their own food by using sun light, carbon dioxide and water, for example plants.
What are Autotrophs?
9
What are Heterotrophs?
Heterotrophs are the opposite of Autotrophs they depend on other organisms to get their own food for example us humans depend on other organism to get their energy.
10
Organism that doesnt use Cellular Respiration
Although all organisms use Cellular Respiration there is one exception to this that organism being the "Henneguya Salminicola" a parasite that does not seem to need Aerobic Respiration to be alive.
