Read the Definitions below and answer the questions that follow:

The Cold War - Period between 1947-1991 where the United States and Soviet Union engaged in indirect conflict via proxy wars between other nations while avoiding direct combat via arms races, alliances--NATO for the U.S., Warsaw Pact for the Soviets--and nuclear deterrence.

Proxy War - War between two groups or nations that are supported--usually w/ arms, money, and supplies--by more powerful countries.
