Elements can come in atom or
molecular form
A substance that cannot be broken down into simpler
substances by chemical means. An element is composed of
atoms that have the same atomic number, that is, each atom
has the same number of protons in its nucleus as all other
atoms of that element.
Atoms are represented by a
single sphere. Sphere of the
same size and color represent
atoms of the same element.
Molecules are represented by
two or more spheres of the
same element
2
Compounds
Compounds are made
from two or more
different elements,
which chemically
react together to
form new
substances.
