Question of the Day:
If you were reincarnated as an animal, what would it be and why?
3
Definition:
A quadratic equation forms a parabola, a "U" shaped graph.
In standard form, a quadatric is of the form y= Ax2 + Bx + C
4
Maximum
Has a "High" point (upside down "u")
If "A" is positive the shape will be a "U" and there will be a minimum.
If "A" is negative the shape will be a "⋂" and there will be a maximum.
5
Vertex
6
intercepts
X intercepts where the graph intersects the x - axis
Y intercept is always at (0, C)
If your equation is not in Standard form (C is in the equation) you can find it by replacing "x" with "0" and solving
7
Match
Match the following
Parent Function of a Quadratic
Standard Form of a Quadratic
Vertex Form of a Quadratic
f(x) = x2
f(x) = ax2 + bx + c
f(x) = a(x - h)2 + k
f(x) = x2
f(x) = ax2 + bx + c
f(x) = a(x - h)2 + k
