Simple Present Tense

The use of Simple Present Tense.

The Simple Present Tense is used to express actions or situations that are

habitual,

regular,

or general facts.

Here are some common uses of the Simple Present Tense:

1.    Habits and Routines:

·         She goes to the gym every morning.

·         They eat lunch at 12 PM.

2.    Facts and General Truths:

·         The Earth revolves around the sun.

·         Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius. It freezes at 0 degree Celsius.

3.    Permanent States:

·         I live in Bekasi.

·         The sky is blue.

4.    Scheduled Events:

·         The train leaves at 3 PM.

·         The conference starts tomorrow.

5.    Narration in Present Tense:

·         In literature or storytelling, the Simple Present Tense can be used for present tense narration.
