Reactivity of metals lab…page 66 (due Fri on canvas )
You will add each of the metals to water according to the following steps:
1) Put on safety goggles!
2) Record observations of each metal before the reaction on pg 66
3) Add water to the test tube to approx 1/3 full.
4) Add a small amount of power or ONE piece of metal to the appropriate test tube.
5) record your observations during the reaction (what are signs of a reaction?). (Feel test tubes for a temperature change)
6) Clean up: empty test tubes into the waster beaker and rinse in sink. DO NOT pour any metals into the sink.
1) aluminum
2) magnesium
3) calcium
4) iron
Outside, I will demonstrate the following metals reacting with water, you will observe and record your observations
1) lithium
2) sodium
3) potassium (video)
4) francium (video)
