• Powers of 10

• ​The positive powers of 10 are easy to write! The exponent matches the number of zeros in the product!

​Power of 10

• If we are multiplying numbers with exponents, we add the exponents together.

• If we are dividing numbers with exponents, we subtract.

• If we are taking a power of a power, we multiply.

​2⁴ x 2² = 2⁶

​​2⁴ ÷ 2² = 2²

​​(2⁴)² = 2⁸

​Multiplying and Dividing by Powers of 10

46.235 x 10² = 4623.5

• When we multiply, we just shift the decimal over to the right the number of places indicated by the exponent.

​3.5 ÷ 10⁴ = 0.00035

• When we divide, we just shift the decimal over to the left the number of places indicated by the exponent.
