• Change subtraction to plus a negative

• Subtracting a negative turns positive

• Trick: How many lines does it take to make a plus sign. Answer: 2 so when you subtract a negative you have two lines to make the plus!

Adding Integers

• When you add two positive or two negatives the sign doesn't change

• When you add a positive or negative, the answer takes the sign of the bigger value
