Simple Sentences
Simple Sentence:
A simple sentence has one independent clause (a complete thought with a subject and a verb).
➤ Example 1: The sun set behind the mountains.
➤ Example 2: Maria and Juan studied for the test.

Compound Sentences
Compound Sentences:
A compound sentence has two or more independent clauses joined by a coordinating conjunction ( FANBOYS = for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) or a semicolon.
➤ Example 1: The rain stopped, and the sun came out.
➤ Example 2: It was raining heavily; we decided to stay inside.
