Do you like feeling frightened during horror stories/ book? Answer yes or no, and explain why.

For example: I do not like the feeling of being frightened during a book or movie because I don't like being scared and nervous for the characters. The characters always open the door, or go in the creepy house, etc. when the audience knows they shouldn't. It makes me feel too nervous and I do not like that feeling.

What creates suspense in this passage?

The power went out again.
Maya froze in the hallway, listening. The only sound was the soft ticking of the clock in the kitchen — until something else joined in. A faint scraping, like metal dragging across the floor, echoed from the basement.

She told herself it was just the wind, but the sound came again, closer this time. Slowly, she reached for the flashlight on the counter. Her fingers brushed against it — and then she heard a click from behind the basement door.

Her breath caught. Someone — or something — was on the other side.

Multiple Choice

In the first person point of view, we sometimes encounter an unreliable narrator. This is a narrator who can't be trusted or speaks with a biased view.
Read the following passage.I have to tell you—I’ve never won anything in my life. I’ve lost every contest I’ve ever entered. I mean, there was the time I won the school raffle, but that doesn’t count because the prize was so small—only a new book bag. That book bag fell apart right after I used it, so it’s obviously not a good prize. And you can’t count the time I won that quiz on the radio because in that case, there wasn’t even a prize! Just bragging rights! I was the only person listening who knew that Carmelo Anthony owns a camel. And I am not counting the time I won the school spelling bee because I nearly lost it—it was so close, I was two points behind my competitor. So you should believe me when I say I’ve never won a contest, ever, and it’s about time I start.
Which detail from the passage provides the best evidence that the narrator is unreliable?
1
“You should believe me when I say...”
2
“That book bag fell apart right after I used it...”
3
“I was the only person listening who knew that Carmelo Anthony owns a camel.”
4
“I mean, there was the time I won the school raffle, but that doesn’t count.”
