Great Britain & the
American Colonies
A once strong relationship turned broken as freedom rang through the colonies
2
How the Two Fell Apart
The British, aka England, wanted strict control over the American Colonies. Their imposing of taxes and not allowing colonists any representation made the colonies extremely upset. Soon, their colonies turn to revolution.
Great Britain
The American colonies always felt distanced from the British. As time went on and they made more money for Britain, their relationship soured. The colonists wanted to rid themselves of the British.

The British had a king and a government called the Parliament. They did not offer any representation to the colonists in America.
This became a huge problem for the colonists as time went on.

The American colonies each had their own assembly, a group of people who met together. These assemblies were mostly okay with the British until harsh British taxes came. A war called the French and Indian War caused many problems between the British and American colonists.
