What Is a Pronoun?

A pronoun takes the place of a noun.

Examples:

  • I

  • you

  • he

  • she

  • it

  • we

  • they

Example:
Sarah runs fast. →
She runs fast.

What Is Verb Agreement?

A verb must match the pronoun.

✔ If the pronoun is singular, the verb changes one way.
✔ If the pronoun is
plural, the verb changes another way.

Singular Pronouns

Singular pronouns talk about one person or thing.


Singular pronouns:
I, he, she, it


Rule:
➡️ With
he, she, it, add -s or -es to the verb.
➡️
I does NOT add -s.


Examples:

  • I walk to school.

  • He walks to school.

  • She jumps high.

  • It rains today.

Plural Pronouns

Plural pronouns talk about more than one.

Plural pronouns:
we, you, they


Rule:
➡️ Do
NOT add -s or -es to the verb.


Examples:

  • We play outside.

  • You read the book.

  • They run fast.
