2019-2020 Teachers Guide to Explorers

Students are required to wear closed toe shoes to PE class.

• True - if students do not have closed toe shoes that cannot participate

• True - if students do not have tennis shoes then they are to sit in the corner

• False - students will participate to the best of their abilities in whatever they are wearing

• False - students will participate barefoot if they have flip flops

Physical education is about....

• Playing sports, being competitive, and winning no matter what

• Developing a healthy active lifestyle through physical literacy

• Participating in dodgeball and aiming at other students

• Burning off energy in Gym Class

The following are acceptable things to bring to explorer class…

• Coats and water bottles

• The stuffed animal brought today to show the teacher how proud they are

• Nothing ever

• Water bottles to PE and music or IEP related materials

What is considered an appropriate time to arrive at Explorer classes, either dropping off or picking up?

• About one minute before schedule time so class can be ready

• We do our best but we always run a few minutes late on both ends

• Five minutes early or late to make sure the next class is still there

• When we feel like getting there, no big deal

Teachers can sign up on the EdTech Google Form to:

• Drop of students so teachers can have an extra plan time during the day

• To co-teach with Mrs. Poulsen or use the space for your own lesson anytime throughout the day

• To co-teach a lesson, use the space for your own lesson, to check out materials, or to conduct research during specific times throughout the day

• To check out Chromebooks and iPads.

What should students bring to art class?

• Slime and personal art supplies

• Nothing at all

• A Growth Mindset (and IEP related)

• No, never!

• If I am, I will bring Mr. Mapson cookies

• Both answers right

What should students bring to music class?

• Water bottle (if needed)

• Stuffed animal

• Pencils

• Toys

Music has many benefits including fostering:

• Creativity, social skills and language development

• Being the best instrumentalist

• Not making any mistakes

• Singing perfectly in tune
