4.2 ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY (SCHEDULED WASTES)

Waste generator means

• any waste listed in the Third schedule.

• any person licensed by the Director General of Environmental Quality.

• any person who generates scheduled waste.

• scheduled waste specified in the Fourth schedule.

Waste generator shall notify the DG of the new categories and quantities of scheduled waste within

• 60 days generated.

• 90 days generated.

• 120 days generated.

• 30 days generated.

Where should the waste be treated?

• Recycling center

• At prescribed premises or at on-site treatment facilities only.

• Indah Water plants.

• At contractor facilities.

Choose the responsibility of waste generator.

• Choose the transportation routes.

• Cleanse or abate the spill or accidental discharge.

• Provide technical expertise in clean-up operation.

• Ensure the scheduled waste to be packaged, labelled and transport accordance to the guidelines.

Choose the incorrect way of scheduled wastes storage.

• Scheduled wastes container should be compatible, and durable which are able to prevent spillage or leakage.

• Incompatible scheduled wastes shall be store in seperate containers.

• Wastes container must always be closed during storage except to remove the scheduled wastes.

• Areas for the storage of the containers shall be designed according to waste generator creativity.

Scheduled wastes cannot be

• stored for 200 days or less after its generation.

• accumulated on site exceed 20 metric tones.

• accumulated on site more than 20 metric tonnes without making application to the DG.

Labelling of scheduled wastes containers require the date, name, address and telephone number of the waste generator. Also the containers have to be marked with the scheduled wastes code as specified in the First Schedule.

Waste generator should keep an inventory of scheduled wastes for a period

Choose the incorrect procedure in transporting the scheduled wastes outside waste generator premises.

• Contractor shall ensure during the training programme, each employee is well informed on the purpose and use of the Seventh Schedule.
