Confederate States of America...we left the union to keep our slaves. We did not like the strong central national government. We prefer strong state governments that cannot be controlled by one central body of power

The Articles of Confederacy! We were the system of government before the constitution was signed. Most of the power was held in the hands of the states. The national government could not tax or raise a national army. This led to conflict and fighting in the United States and caused us to reconsider our choice of government
