The room temperature in an operating room (OR) should be:

• below 50°F
• below 60°F
• between 68°F and 76°F
• between 80°F and 86°F

The most effective protection from the radiation of x-rays is a:

• lead apron
• double thick muslin apron
• 3-ft distance from machine
• 3-ft distance from patient

It is considered good technique to:

• change your mask only if it becomes moistened
• hang the mask around the neck
• crisscross the strings over the head
• handle the mask only by the strings

Electrical cords should be:

• removed from outlets by the cord
• wrapped tightly around equipment
• removed from pathways so equipment is not rolled over them
• disconnected from the unit before disconnection from the wall

• rinsed with tap wwater between each case
• cleaned with a disinfectant solution and autoclaved before reuse
• rinsed with sterile distilled water between each case
• autoclaved daily

Storage shelves must be cleaned with a germicide:

• each case

While a surgical case is in progress:

• doors remain open so that staff can easily move in or out
• doors should remain closed
• doors remain open to circulate air
