What is hacking?

Should it be the responsibility of a company to have adequate security such that hackers cannot break into their system?

Is it ethical to break into a computer system without permission if your intention is to show to the company (or to the public) that their security is poor? For example, a financial institution is advertising for clients to deposit money. You hack in easily and then publish it to warn clients that their money may not be secure.

If you break into a system but do nothing is there a cost to the organisation? (Assume that they found out that you broke in, or that you told them)

What are examples of other dangers that we are facing in cyberspace?

The air force in many countries currently use remote controlled aircraft (drones) for surveillance or for military operations. Would you feel comfortable flying from Abu Dhabi to New York in a remote controlled aircraft after reading reports on possible hacking into such systems

What punishment would be appropriate for a 16 year old who, just for fun, hacks into a multi-national organisation’s computer systems resulting in a loss to the organisation of $250 Million?

A boy’s hobby has been building remote controlled aircraft. At the age of 20 he manages to hack into a US air force computer system and take control of a drone in flight with missiles on board. If he is caught what punishment should he get? Should he be treated the same as a habitual criminal or a terrorist?

What is the punishment for anyone convicted of producing, preparing, sending, or saving information with intent to exploit, distribute or providing others with information that causes harm to public decency?
