COMPREHENSION PASSAGE
ROCKS
Rocks can be defined as the outer layer of the earth’s crust and cover. There are three types of rocks-igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. Igneous rocks are the only true rocks.
Sedimentary rocks are formed from fragments of other rocks and the remains of plants and animals that come together and become solid.
Metamorphic rocks are either igneous rocks or sedimentary rocks that have changed their form due to heat and pressure.
The commonest type of igneous rock is grantle, while chalk and limestone are examples of sedimentary rocks. Marble is a metamorphic rock. It is formed from limestone which has undergone change from heat and pressure to become marble.
Rocks are used for many things including construction, building and decorations.
