In 1799, Napoleon Bonaparte seized power in France through a bloodless coup. Prior to this, France faced wars and economic challenges under the Directory government. Napoleon, along with Emmanuel Joseph Sieyès and other conspirators, plotted to overthrow the weakened Directory. The coup was executed by deceiving the legislative bodies and dissolving the existing government structure. Napoleon emerged as the First Consul, effectively becoming the dictator of France without any bloodshed.
