Type 2 diabetes affects 90% of diabetes patients. It occurs when insulin from the pancreas doesn't work properly or isn't produced in sufficient amounts, leading to high blood glucose levels. Symptoms include fatigue, frequent urination, and thirst, but many people remain undiagnosed for years. Long-term high glucose can damage organs, but with proper treatment and lifestyle changes, it can be managed. Research is ongoing to find ways to put diabetes into remission and eventually cure it.
