In January 1968, Saigon was filled with festive spirit for the Tet Lunar New Year. The Tet truce proposed by North Vietnam promised a peaceful holiday. However, the Viet Cong launched a surprise attack on Saigon, violating the truce. The city was engulfed in flames, and many civilians were caught in the crossfire.
