The UN reports that over 7,000 people have been detained in Iran following massive protests that began due to a sudden increase in gasoline prices. The UN calls for the release of those arbitrarily detained. At least 208 people, including women and children, have been reported killed, with unverified reports suggesting higher numbers. The Iranian government has not released official figures and blames the violence on foreign-backed agitators, dismissing foreign death tolls as lies.
