D.C. Suspends Most Of Its Metro Trains Over Safety Issue

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has identified compliance issues with the axles of subway cars, including the latest models, following a derailment investigation. These issues affect about 60% of the Washington Metro's 1200-car fleet. As a result, the Washington Metro Transit Authority plans to operate only 40 trains today.
