Use a pipe vise to hold pipe for cutting and threading pipes.

It is safe to grab freshly cut threads and to brush metal chips/burrs with hands.

Plumbing chemicals are extremely flammable and should be stored in a cool, dry place.

When using the PVC cutters, be sure that the non-cutting hand is holding the piece to be cut at least 3” away from the cutting zone.

Pipe fittings and pieces need to be properly stored or discarded at the end of the period.

When working within confined spaces be sure to take breaks to avoid overexposure to fumes from plumbing chemicals.

When using a propane or butane torch for soldering, you can’t burn yourself or the structure you are plumbing, as the torch is not hot enough.

If a hot or shortened wire is touching any part of a metal plumbing system, the shock can be fatal.

Wear safety glasses whenever you perform any plumbing activities, and gloves whenever soldering copper pipe.

When repairing or installing any plumbing project it is important to identify the source of any plumbing.

Turn on water before repairing or adjusting the system.

Use caution with plumbing chemicals. Do not inhale fumes from any type of pipe glue, primer, solder, or thread compound (dope), as this may cause eye irritation, dizziness, and/or respiratory problems.

Clean any water or residues on floor when working to prevent slip and fall hazards.

When cutting from entire lengths of pipe, ensure that the pipe is held tightly in place and supported by a sawhorse, table, or coworker.
