Boaz is a 2 year old boy. He is active, playful and healthy. He can identify everybody in his house. He is not potty trained yet so he is still on diaper. He says few words like dada, mama, see, no, take; but does not respond to his name and can’t express himself more than that.

Chimaobi is a 9 year old boy in primary 3. He is very vocal, he knows what he wants and can make appropriate request, he is hyperactive, he sometimes hit people in his class, including his teachers when he is frustrated. He still struggles to read 3 letter words. He loves to paint and make crafts and he does it really well.

He can write his numbers from 1-20 but begins to miss the numbers up from 20.

Chimaobi's parents are really worried about their child's academics. They learnt you are now a special needs educator, so they came to you to direct them on what to do; also they want you to work with the child.

Explain in details how you will help the family and what strategies you would use to work with the child.

As a trained special needs educator, you were invited to observe a child to know if her case is a special needs case or not because the parents have been invited for a conference in school the next day.

• Olivia is a 3 years old girl. Her reading level is Grade 2, her math level is Grade 1, but she is in nursery 1. She has words but only uses it at will. She is always throwing tantrums in class and the class teacher is tired of managing her in class as she has no idea on how to help her.
