ING Rules

Let's review.

RULE 01

• One syllable, ended in cons/vow/cons. Double the last consonant.

• Exceptions: W and X.

RULE 02

• Ended in silent e. Replace e with ing.

• Exception 01: Ended in ee.

• Exception 02: Ended in ie.

RULE 03

• More than one syllable, ended in cons/vow/cons, stressed on the last syllable. Double the last consonant and add ing.

RULE 04

• Add ing to the verbs not included in the previous rules.
