1. Label the vowels (v).
2. Label the consonants between the vowels ONLY (c).
Think about the type of syllable pattern you see through the vowel-consonant pattern you just labeled, then put a slash in between the different syllable patterns you found in the word.
3. Read each syllable as an open, or closed syllable.
