How to find the missing number

• fist step would isolating the variable on one side of the equal sign , by addition or subtracting on each side.

• the next step would be to get the variable by itself by stripping it of coefficients, using multiplication or division

Example Problem: 2x + 8 = 38

• Step one subtract 8 from each side giving you 2x = 30

• Step two to get the varialbe by itslef you would divide by 2 on each side givnig you x = 15

• So your missing numer would be x = 15
