​Computer icons are little pictures that represent a program or a file type.

​You can normally open a program by double-clicking on the icon on the Desktop of your computer. The ICON helps to identify the program.

Instructions written for the computer that allow it to do something special like write letters, spreadsheets, forms, edit pictures, etc.

​OS​ (Operating System)

We also get special software called an OS which runs your computer and helps you save and open files.
