​Generalmente, utilizamos SOME (somebody / someone / something) para acompañar sustantivos contables o incontables en oraciones positivas.

Ejemplos:

​SOME

​- There are some letters for you.

​- There is some sugar on the table.

​- I want some chocolate.

​También lo utilizamos cuando hacemos un tipo de ofrecimiento y esperamos una respuesta ya sea positiva o negativa.

​Would you like some coffee?

​Would you like something to eat?

​Can I have some sugar, please?

​Utilizamos ANY (anybody, anyone, anything) para acompañar sustantivos contables o incontables en oraciones negativas y para preguntas en general.

​Ejemplos:

​- Have you got any luggage? No, I haven´t.

​- Has anybody seen my bag? Yes, it's under the table.

​​- We don't have any shirts on your size.

​- There aren't any bottle of milk in my fridge.

​- She went out without any money.

​- She refused to eat anything.

​ANY

​También utilizamos ANY seguido de la palabra if:

​- If there are any letters for me, can you send them on to this address.

- ​If anyone has any questions, I'll be pleased to answer them.

​- Let me know if you need anything.

​También usamos ANY con el significado "it doesn't matter" (no importa cual, cuando, quien)

​Ejemplos:

​- You can catch any bus. They all go to the centre. (No importa que bus tomes)

​- Which song should I sing? Any song. I don´t mind.

​- Come and see me any time you want. (No importa cuando)

​- We left the door unlocked. Anybody could have come in.

​- We bought some flowers.

​- He's busy. He's got some work to do.

​- There's somebody at the door.

​- I'm hungry. I want something to eat.

​- We didn't buy any flowers.

​- He's lazy. He never does any work.

​- There isn't anybody at the door.

​NO

​Utilizamos NO (nothing, no one, none, nobody, nowhere) en oraciones positivas (donde el verbo está en positivo) pero el significado de la oración es negativa. Y también luego de la palabra there is - there are.

Ejemplos:

- I asked for help but nobody / no one helped me.

​- There is nothing in the fridge.

​- There are no cars in the parking lot.

​- Koalas are found nowhere else but in Australia.
