87. 1st Grade SRR: Stop and Shop

“Come along,” said Mom. Mom, Rose, and Luke went to shop. Their first stop is Joe’s Pies.

“Let’s get pie,” said Luke.

“Yes, let’s,” said Mom. “Which pie should we get?” Luke chose peach.

“Joe bakes bread, too,” said Rose.

Joe gave Mom, Rose, and Luke free slices of fresh bread with jam on it.

Mom chose a loaf of wheat bread to take home. Rose chose white bread.

They stop at Joan’s place next. Joan held out cups of peas and nuts with yam chips. Mom had a taste.

“Yum!” said Mom. “Crisp roasted peas, nuts, and sweet yam chips. I like this!” Rose had a taste.

“Whoa!” said Luke. “I see a place for lunch. Can we eat there, Mom?”

Luke went up on his toes to see the lunches the woman has for sale.

Mom, Rose, and Luke get eggs. Rose sees hen eggs and big eggs from geese. She sees pale duck eggs and little tan quail eggs with spots. Luke likes the duck eggs best.

“Six hen eggs, please,” said Mom.

Bob’s Green Plate is their last stop.

“I know you will like these leeks,” said Bob.

Mom fills bags with leeks and greens. “We will have a feast at home,” said Rose.
