The conjugation of -ER verbs in present tense

ER Verb Revision

• When we use verbs we match them to the subject of the sentence, called conjugating the verb

• In French, the verb ending changes to match the subject of the verb.

ER verb endings

• With ER verbs the er is taken off the end of the verb and the matching ending is added: for Je +e, for Tu +es, for Vous +ez, for Elle/Il +e, for Nous +ons, for Elles/Ills +ent

• e.g. Parler (to speak) becomes parle when using Je (I) as the subject of the verb.
