  • Book written by Betty Friedan which served as a springboard for the Women's Rights movement of the 1960s.

  • Challenged the traditional roles of women in society.

  • Women should be able to compete for the same jobs and pay.

  • Led to the movement seeking greater economic and social equality for women.
