Gerunds vs infitivies

Grammar Week 12
Term 2

14

Gerunds vs infitivies

Verb patterns are formed by two verbs. The second verb could be an Infinitive or a Gerund.

There are verbs that can only be followed by an
Infinitive, such as afford, begin, continue, refuse, decide, promise, tend, hope, etc.

On the other hand, some verbs can only be used with
Gerunds. For instance: keep, miss, admit, mind, consider, avoid, enjoy, finish, suggest, etc.
