Vocabulary-Marine Biome-zones

Ocean Acidification
The process by which the ocean becomes more acidic due to increased carbon
dioxide (CO2) levels in the atmosphere, leading to harmful effects on marine life.
Coral Reef
A diverse underwater ecosystem made up of coral structures that provide habitat and
shelter for many marine species.
Open Ocean
The vast body of saltwater that is not near the shore, characterized by deep waters
and relatively low nutrient levels.
Epipelagic
The upper layer of the ocean, extending from the surface to about 200 meters deep,
where there is enough sunlight for photosynthesis.

Why do we identify biomes by its climate?

Coral Reefs are alive?

This symbol means its a HOT question. HOT stands for Higher Order Thinking. It’s a question to keep in mind throughout the
lesson. Don’t worry if you can’t answer it at the beginning of the lesson - you should be able to answer it by the end though
