A prism is a polyhedron with two parallel polygon bases and rectangular sides connecting those bases.

The top and bottom are called bases and the distance between them is called the height or altitude.

Naming Prisms

We name prisms by their bases.

Example: If the bases are triangles, then it is a triangular prism.
