• A singular noun names one person, place, idea, or thing.

• A plural noun names more than one person, place, idea, or thing.

• Most plural nouns are formed by adding -s or -es.

• A noun can function in a sentence as a subject, a direct object of anaction verb, or an object of a preposition.

Singular Form to Plural Form

• Add -es to form the plural of singular nouns that end in s, sh, ch, or x.

• Example: tax (singular) becomes taxes (plural)

• To form the plural of nouns ending in a consonant and the letter y, change the y to i and add -es.
