Response to Literature
Our writing goal:
Make a claim about theme (the big idea of the story) in "The Necklace". Support your claim with evidence from the setting, plot, and characters in the text.
We will be writing a short essay about "The Necklace".

Claim
The claim is what you are saying about the topic. Maybe you are saying the topic is important, is wrong, is fun. This is where you get to put a little of your opinion in.
Your claim should be something that you have to prove and someone could disagree with. It shouldn't be a basic fact.
Good Claim: Dogs are a great pet.
Bad Claim: Dogs are animals.
That is just a fact that could not be disputed and would not need to be supported with more facts.
5
Points
Your points are what you are going to use to prove what you said in your claim.
It's what you read in "The Necklace".
This is where you pull sentences or refer to paragraphs from the story.
It is evidence to back you up.
Your points should not be your opinion.
