Debate is germane if it:

• is delivered passionately and with feeling

• is done politely

• has bearing on whether the pending motion should be adopted

A member may speak in debate:

• Three (3) times a day on any debatable question

• Two (2) times a day on any debatable question

• One (1) time a day on any debatable question

A member may speak in debate:

• For five minutes per debate

• For ten minutes per debate

• For twenty minutes per debate

The chair should:

• Work to alternate debate between those who favor and those who oppose the motion

• Try to call on people who favor the side that he supports

• Try to avoid conflict between members by not letting people speak if they disagree

To reduce or increase the time for debate, a member would move to

• Postpone Indefinitely.

• Object to the Consideration of a Question.

• Limit or Extend Limits of Debate.

The vote to change the limits of debate is:

• 2/3 vote

• Majority vote

• Majority of the membership

Who has preference in recognition?

• The first person to raise his or her hand

• The vice-president or the next officer in line

• The person who made the motion

In order to avoid personal attacks in debate, rules of debate require

• All members to be on time for the meeting

• All speaking is directed to the chair
