Centrifugal machines may be divided into three general classes (FBC)

are used where low pressures, from a few inches of water to 1psi, and comparatively large volumes are required (F)

is a machine used to compress air or gas by centrifugal force to a final pressure not exceeding 35 psig (B)

are fans used to force air under pressure, that is, the resistance to gas flow is imposed primarily upon the discharge (B)

are fans used to withdraw air under suction, that is, the resistance to gas flow is imposed primarily upon the inlet (E)

a blower used if the pressure at the suction is above atmospheric, as sometimes used in the chemical industry where the sufficient head must be developed to circulate the gases through the process. (C)

is a machine used to compress air or gas to a final pressure above 35 psig and also states that such compressors are invariably water cooled (C)

TYPES OF FAN (PTVC)

·       It consists of a propeller or disk-type wheel within a mounting ring or plate, including the driving mechanism either belt driven or directly coupled. (P)
