Welcome to Wayground, Troup County Schools!

Troup County Schools is officially on Wayground. The LaGrange, Georgia district serves 12,278 students across 19 schools, and this partnership brings the platform to roughly 5,000 students at all five of the district’s middle and high schools.
The partnership will roll out across Troup County's secondary schools, including Callaway Middle School, Gardner-Newman Middle School, Long Cane Middle School, Callaway High School, and Troup County High School. The district's mission is to educate all students using creative and innovative strategies that provide "A Place For Every Kid." This is exactly what drew them to Wayground. Like many Georgia districts, Troup County is focused on preparing students for success on state assessments while keeping learning engaging and accessible for every student. With a diverse student body and a commitment to meeting every learner's needs, the district needed a tool that could adapt to different learning styles while giving teachers the data and flexibility to support every student.
Why Troup County chose Wayground
The decision to partner with Wayground came directly from the classroom. When asked, "Why Wayground? Why now?" the answer was clear: "We heard it from our teachers," district leaders explained. "It fit the needs of our 6th through 12th grade teachers."
Troup County's secondary schools needed a platform that could work across diverse learning environments, from core academic subjects to Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways, and especially one that could adapt to block scheduling at the middle and high school level. With elementary schools in the district intentionally reducing device time, the focus shifted to finding the right tools for secondary students, where technology can enhance rigorous, standards-aligned instruction.
But beyond meeting instructional needs, Troup County saw something bigger: the potential for a shared learning experience across all five secondary schools. "It's sometimes hard to find a common resource, but this could be a common experience kids could have throughout the district," leaders noted. Wayground gave them something more useful: a way to create consistency and connection across different schools, subjects, and student pathways.
Teachers leading the way
This partnership didn't come out of nowhere. Teachers at Troup County's middle and high schools have already been using Wayground and seeing incredible results in their classrooms. In fact, several educators in the district have become Wayground Game Changers, our most experienced and enthusiastic users who champion the platform in their schools. When we asked some of these teachers what Wayground has meant for their teaching, here's what they shared:
Madelyn Bailey
Math Teacher, Callaway Middle School
"Wayground has completely changed the way I prepare students for learning and assessment. As a middle school teacher, I am especially excited about the new drag-and-drop, categorizing, and interactive question types because they mirror the kinds of tasks students see on the Georgia Milestones. This will allow my students to practice rigorous standards-based questions in a format that feels engaging and less intimidating.
The platform also saves me a tremendous amount of time by providing instant feedback and detailed data that I can use to target instruction. My students are highly motivated by the game-based features, and I have seen firsthand how tools like Wayground increase participation, confidence, and academic growth. I am looking forward to using it extensively next year to strengthen both classroom instruction and GMAS preparation."
Brittany Aplin
English Teacher, Long Cane Middle School
"I have seen Wayground have a positive impact on my 7th graders this year by making learning more interactive and engaging. Students have enjoyed the opportunity to practice important skills in a fun and competitive way, which has helped increase participation and confidence in the classroom; this also stems from the flexibility of being able to adapt to each student's needs with the accommodations available. The program also encourages teamwork, critical thinking, and a stronger connection to the lessons being taught daily."
Julie Lawrence
Science Teacher, Gardner-Newman Middle School
"This is exciting news! We utilize Wayground's Mastery Peak a few times each week in Science to spiral information from previous units and have seen an increase in content retention. Features like the embedded PhET simulations, interactive videos, and answer methods beyond multiple choice make it a more versatile and effective resource than other platforms that are strictly play-based. I am looking forward to utilizing even more features now that we have a district subscription."
The momentum before the partnership
Even before this official partnership, teachers across Troup County's middle and high schools were already embracing Wayground. In just the six months leading up to the district-wide decision:
- 123 teachers across all five secondary schools actively used Wayground in their classrooms
- 3,316 classroom activities created and played across every major subject area
- 2.5 million student responses captured—showing deep engagement, not just casual use
This kind of grassroots adoption, driven by teachers who love the platform and see the impact firsthand, is exactly what makes partnerships like this so exciting. When middle and high school teachers like Madelyn, Brittany, Deborah, and Anna are already advocating for a tool with their admin and curriculum coaches, it's clear the partnership isn't just a purchase. It's a movement that started in the classroom.
Here's to what's next
Over the summer and into the fall, Troup County will roll out Wayground across all five secondary schools, coordinating onboarding around summer planning sessions and new teacher orientation. The district is leveraging Game Changer educators who are already Wayground experts to help their colleagues get started and ensure the momentum from the pilot phase carries forward district-wide. We're honored to partner with Troup County Schools to support teachers and students through this rollout and beyond.
