Your activity, their battlefield.
WayArena turns any activity into a live arena battle. Students answer to earn spells, spells win rounds, and rounds end with the whole class asking to go again.
How it works
Five phases, ten minutes, and the whole class in it together.
WayArena live — students battling in real time
Academic accuracy is the real ammo
Questions aren't a gate you pass through to get to the fun part. They're what gives students power in the arena. Every correct answer earns spells. More answers, more spells, bigger edge in the battle. The learning and the game are the same loop.
Turn your next activity into an arena battle
No new resources to build, no tool to switch to — WayArena runs with any activity that you already have.
Students shape the arena themselves
When a student's map gets picked, the whole class plays on it.
Students build the terrain. One map wins the class vote — and everyone plays on it.
Questions about WayArena
WayArena is a live classroom game mode inside Wayground. Students answer questions from your existing activity to earn spells, then battle each other in a round-based arena. It's designed for 5-10 minute energizers — bell ringers, warm-ups, review rounds, and brain breaks — without leaving Wayground or rebuilding any content.
Every correct answer earns the student spells. More correct answers means more and stronger spells going into the arena round. Students cast spells to attack, block, and counter opponents during live gameplay. The connection is direct: academic accuracy becomes arena firepower.
No. All students enter the arena regardless of their answer accuracy. Students with higher accuracy carry more spells in, which gives them an advantage. But every student is in the arena, every student can win a round, and every student has a real chance to have a visible classroom moment. The design intention is that accuracy matters without locking anyone out of the experience.
Students can create and submit custom arena maps. The teacher selects which map the class plays on. Teacher feedback shows this creates a second kind of classroom participation: students who aren't the fastest academic performers can shape the game through creativity. Students cheer when their map is picked, submit their own map themes (medieval castles, ocean biomes, inside jokes), and feel pride when their creation enters the shared classroom space.
A typical session runs 5-10 minutes. Teachers in station rotation or extended review periods sometimes stretch to 10-12 minutes or run multiple rounds. The format is designed for short bursts — teachers control when it starts and stops, and the activity transitions cleanly back to instruction.
Yes. WayArena runs on activities already in your Wayground account. Pick an activity, launch Playground, and select WayArena. There's no need to import content from other tools or rebuild anything. The content you already built does double duty as game content.
WayArena is part of Wayground Playground. Wayground is free for K-12 teachers. You can sign up at wayground.com/signup — no credit card required.
If you already use Wayground: open any activity, select Playground from the launch options, and choose WayArena. Students join with a code and the arena opens. If you're new to Wayground: sign up free at wayground.com/signup, create or import a quiz, and launch from there. No additional software or downloads needed.
