CompTIA Tech+ Practice Tests for CTE Students
Prepare your IT Foundations students for the CompTIA Tech+ (FC0-U71) certification with AI-generated practice sets mapped to all 6 exam domains, gamified review sessions, and readiness reports that show performance by domain before test day.
CompTIA Tech+ Exam Overview
As of August 2024, CompTIA replaced ITF+ with the Tech+ certification (FC0-U71). ITF+ (FC0-U61) was retired July 31, 2025. Tech+ covers six domains across 75 questions in 60 minutes. Unlike most CompTIA certifications, Tech+ does not expire.
The CompTIA Tech+ certification exam (FC0-U71) covers six domains: IT Concepts & Terminology (26%), Infrastructure (18%), Applications & Software (14%), Software Development Concepts (10%), Database Fundamentals (13%), and Security (19%). The exam consists of up to 75 multiple-choice questions with a 60-minute time limit and a passing score of 650 out of 900. Unlike most CompTIA certifications, Tech+ does not expire.
| Domain | Weight | Key Topics |
|---|---|---|
| 1.0 IT Concepts & Terminology | 26% | Notational systems, fundamental data types, computing basics, value of data, AI and emerging tech |
| 2.0 Infrastructure | 18% | Hardware components, networking concepts, storage types, computing devices |
| 3.0 Applications & Software | 14% | Application management, operating system basics, software architecture |
| 4.0 Software Development Concepts | 10% | Programming concepts, logic, development methodologies |

Sample Practice Questions
These questions reflect the style, difficulty, and domain coverage of the CompTIA Tech+ exam. Wayground generates hundreds of domain-mapped questions like these automatically.
B is correct. Customer records with defined fields (name, address, purchase history) are organized in a predictable format — that's structured data. Unstructured data lacks a predefined model (e.g., emails, videos). Semi-structured data has some organizational properties but no rigid schema (e.g., JSON).
C is correct. RAM (Random Access Memory) provides temporary, volatile storage for data the CPU is actively processing. SSDs and HDDs are persistent storage. A PSU (Power Supply Unit) provides electrical power to components.
C is correct. Phishing uses deceptive emails appearing to come from a trusted source to trick users into revealing credentials or clicking malicious links. Ransomware encrypts files for payment. Brute-force attacks try many password combinations. Man-in-the-middle attacks intercept communications.
B is correct. A primary key is a column (or set of columns) that uniquely identifies each row in a relational database table. A foreign key references a primary key in another table. An index improves query performance. A schema defines the overall database structure.

How Wayground Prepares Students for Tech+
Generate Domain-Mapped Practice
Teachers select Tech+ and any of the 6 exam domains. Wayground generates a fresh practice set in 30 seconds — no manual question writing needed.
Students Practice (and Compete)
Gamified review sessions keep students engaged with leaderboards, streaks, and team modes. Students voluntarily practice when it feels like play.
Review Domain-Level Reports
Readiness reports break down student performance by each of the 6 Tech+ domains. Teachers see exactly which domains need more review before exam day.
Students Sit for the Official Exam
When readiness reports show students are ready, they take the official CompTIA Tech+ exam through authorized testing centers — prepared to pass on the first attempt.
CompTIA Tech+ appears on the approved industry certification lists in Texas, California, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia. Wayground's certification prep is an allowable use of Perkins V Section 135 local funds.
