The goal of this exercise will be to use different memorization skills to achieve a perfect score on the Sporcle Quiz in which you have to list the top 100 Rock Bands, OR Harry Potter top 200, OR Pokemon original 151, OR Lord of the Rings top 50, OR All the Bones 206

Details on the activity

  • Take the test once to establish a baseline score

  • Continue to take the test until you can list all the bands, or score close to perfect

  • To improve your score, use different techniques to memorization.

  • After each test, view the bands you missed & introduce a different method of memorization to remember the bands you are forgetting

  • 1st technique - simple rehearsal, reread the names & try again

  • 2nd technique - x techniques: make up a song, pretend you're putting them in your memory room (method of loci), chunking, acronyms, make a visual memory, memory trees, semantic encoding

What to do with the information

  • Create a poster, essay, manga, video, podcast or other way to show your journey through this assignment

  • Whatever technique you choose please include an introduction where the audience finds out what you set out to do; a method - where the techniques employed are listed and clairifed (most people won't know what peg-word means, or memory palace)

  • Chart or graph displaying results
