What are tied notes

• A curved line connecting two or more notes on the SAME line or space is called a tie

• The pictures on this and the following slide show examples of tied notes with the counts written under them

Ties can also cross a bar line joining a note in one measure to a note in the next measure

• The example seen here shows how notes can be tied to notes in the next measure

Always think of holding the first note through all the notes that are tied together
