Present Progressive

It expresses an action that is presently going on.

Formula of the Present Progressive-

Present Tense of Estar PLUS Present Participle (GERUND)

yo- estoy nosotros- estamos

tú- estás

singular- está plural- están

Here are the Present Participle(Gerund) endings-

-ar- ando

-er/-ir- iendo

-double vowel- yendo

*example verbs-leer,creer,caer

This is how it works-

hablar- to speak- becomes- hablando- speaking

vivir- to live- becomes- viviendo- living

comer- to eat- becomes- comiendo- eating

creer- to believe- becomes- creyendo- believing

* remember this one has the double vowel

caer- to fall- becomes- cayendo- falling

* remember this one has the double vowel

So you can now figure out the the Present Participle (Gerund) is the -ing translation in English!

So now we have to put the formula together!

Present Progressive-

Remember - Present form of estar and Present Participle- Here we go.

1. I am reading the book for English class.

Remember you have to have a FORM OF ESTAR and the PRESENT PARTCIPLE with correct ending!
