History of Gymnastics

  • Modern gymnastics began in the 1820s

  • The first gym club was built in America in 1850

  • in 1888, the Amateur Gymnastics Association was founded in England

  • Men's Gymnastics was one of the original seven sports included in the first modern olympics held in Athens 1896.

  • Women were included in competition starting in 1928
