An infinitive in English is to + verb. In Spanish an inifinitive is easy to identify. They either end in
-ar
-er
-ir

Conjugating -ar verbs
When you conjugate a verb, you break it down into its parts. In spanish you drop the -ar off of the verb. When you do this you have the stem of the verb. In order to describe who is doing the action you add a special ending.
